Summer Camp 2026 Promotes Talent, Cultural Heritage and Social Responsibility Among Children

Jampuijala, Sepahijala, Tripura | 11 July 2026: In a remarkable initiative to nurture young minds and preserve indigenous heritage, SAL KWTAL CHARITABLE TRUST successfully organised Summer Camp 2026 at New Grace Hill High School, bringing together students, parents, teachers, community leaders and volunteers for a day filled with learning, creativity, cultural appreciation and social awareness.

The camp was designed to provide children with a platform to discover their talents, develop confidence and acquire valuable life skills beyond the boundaries of classroom education. Through a combination of educational, recreational and cultural activities, the programme encouraged participants to embrace healthy competition while fostering holistic personality development.

Students enthusiastically participated in a series of competitions, including Drawing, Spelling, Quiz, Chess and Storytelling, each carefully planned to develop different aspects of learning and creativity. The Drawing Competition inspired imagination and artistic expression, while the Spelling Competition strengthened vocabulary and language skills. The Quiz Competition tested participants' general knowledge and analytical abilities, whereas the Chess Competition enhanced strategic thinking, concentration and patience. The Storytelling Competition offered children an opportunity to improve their communication skills, self-confidence and public speaking abilities. The competitions not only recognised individual talent but also encouraged students to strive for excellence through positive and healthy competition.

One of the major attractions of the camp was the Traditional Skills Workshop, where children experienced hands-on demonstrations of traditional rice cleaning, indigenous weaving and traditional handicrafts. Organised with the objective of preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Tiprasa community, the workshop introduced young participants to age-old practices passed down through generations. The organisers emphasised that exposing children to these traditional skills at an early age strengthens their cultural identity while ensuring that valuable indigenous knowledge continues to be preserved for future generations. The workshop also highlighted the importance of balancing modern education with respect for cultural roots and traditional values.

The programme was graced by Dr. Bijoy Debbarma, renowned Eye Specialist, as the Chief Guest. Also present were Mr. Sajal Debbarma, Chairman of SAL KWTAL CHARITABLE TRUST, and Mr. Aghur Debbarma, Chairman of New Grace Hill High School. Their presence inspired both students and parents and added significance to the occasion.

Beyond the competitions, the programme placed strong emphasis on social awareness. During the prize distribution ceremony, the speakers addressed one of the most pressing challenges facing today's youth—drug abuse and excessive mobile phone addiction. They highlighted the adverse effects of substance abuse and uncontrolled screen time on physical health, mental well-being, academic performance and family relationships. Parents were encouraged to spend quality time with their children, closely monitor their activities and guide them towards positive habits. Students were motivated to focus on education, sports, reading, creativity and community service instead of becoming dependent on mobile devices or falling prey to drug addiction. The awareness session underscored that building a healthy and responsible generation requires the collective efforts of families, educational institutions and society.

The event also fostered friendship, teamwork and community participation, allowing children from different backgrounds to interact, learn together and enjoy a vibrant atmosphere throughout the day. Parents appreciated the Trust's initiative in organising a programme that successfully integrated education, culture, awareness and entertainment under one platform.

Following the completion of all competitions and workshops, a community lunch was organised for students, parents, guests, teachers, volunteers and organisers. The gathering provided an opportunity for everyone to celebrate the achievements of the participants while strengthening bonds of unity and togetherness.

The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates to winners and participants in recognition of their enthusiasm, dedication and outstanding performances. The cheerful faces of the children and the positive response from parents reflected the overall success of the event.

More than just a recreational programme, Summer Camp 2026 emerged as a meaningful platform where education, culture, social responsibility and community values converged to inspire the younger generation. By encouraging healthy competition, preserving indigenous traditions, promoting awareness against drug abuse and mobile phone addiction, and strengthening community participation, the camp successfully fulfilled its objectives.

SAL KWTAL CHARITABLE TRUST expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Bijoy Debbarma for graciously serving as the Chief Guest, Mr. Aghur Debbarma and the management of New Grace Hill High School for extending their wholehearted support and providing the venue, as well as to all volunteers, judges, parents and participants whose dedication and cooperation made the programme a memorable success.

Reaffirming its commitment to community development, the Trust stated that it will continue organising educational, healthcare, cultural and social welfare initiatives with the vision of empowering children, preserving indigenous heritage and building a stronger, healthier and more responsible society.
